Storytelling Opportunities--Deadlines

Wednesday, October 8th is the last day to register for the Friday, October 10th auditions for the 2nd Annual Hauntings Contest with the top spooky tellers performing on Monday, October 27th.
Tuesday, October 14th starting at 6:00pm is the Utah Youth Storytelling Showcase that connects to the National Youth Storytelling Showcase.  Contact Rachel Hedman at (801) 870-5799 or info@rachelhedman.com to RSVP a youth teller to perform.
Saturday, November 1st is the deadline to submit an "On the Road" or journey story for "Timp Tell: A New Voice Showcase" in connection with the 2015 Timpanogos Storytelling Festival during Labor Day weekend.

Wednesday, December 31st is the deadline to submit workshop and performance proposals for the Timpanogos Storytelling Conference held in Orem, UT, September 2-3, 2015.

Event:  Journey Stories--An Exhibit from the Smithsonian Institution

Featured Stories:  Tales of how our ancestors came to America as well as the personal connections

Dates/Times:  Mostly Fridays and Saturdays, October 3-4; 10-11; 17-18; 24-25; 29-31; with starting times ranging from 5:00pm-9:00pm depending on the nigh

Notes on Locations--It's best to book online and get exact information on where to meet.  Walking tours have slightly different starting locations than bus tours and not all tours are available each night.

Date/Time:  Registration due Wednesday, October 8th with auditions on Friday, October 10th, starting at 5:00pm with top ones performing on Monday, October 27th

Wanted Tellers:  Anyone with a stage-ready spooky story

Story Length:  No time limit though stories 10 minutes or less are preferred

Story Audience:  Aim for the stories to be spine-tingling for those aged 12 years+, best if has use of suspense, mystery, intrigue, voice, audience response, story development, story craft, performance, and originality .

Cost:  $10.00 registration fee

Event:  Utah Youth Storytelling Showcase

Connected To:  National Youth Storytelling Showcase

Live Audition Date/Time:  Tuesday, October 14th, starting at 6:00pm

Wanted Tellers:  Any youth Kindergarten-High School who wishes to make the National Youth Storytelling Showcase, top 5 from Utah are forwarded and judged a 2nd time

Story Length for Youth Teller:  Range of 5-10 minutes

Judging:  Focus on storyteller, story, and storytelling elements (most points awarded for "connection with audience")--NO READING!

Cost:  Free, open to all--general public invited whether or not you have youth telling

Location:  Gale Center of History and Culture, 10300 Beckstead Lane, South Jordan
