"Sustain the Story" - extended to August 15
Thanks to the seven new monthly givers and three generous gifts from organizations, we’re inching closer to the finish line of our Mid-Year Campaign—now extended to August 15, 2025, to give more people time to join in. Every recurring gift, whether $5 or $50 a month, powers intergenerational storytelling programs, community showcases, and multicultural arts education. Our goal is to reach $1,333/month in recurring support—and we’re getting there,
step by step. Monthly donors keep us grounded and growing—thank you for making this movement bold, sustainable, and community-rooted.
Salt Lake Art
Museum & What Could Be
Story Crossroads, in collaboration with the Utah Storytelling Guild and the Nubian Storytellers of Utah Leadership (NSOUL), is excited to develop
storytelling programming alongside the new Salt Lake Art Museum, set to open in May 2026. Following a productive brainstorming meeting on July 22, 2025 with museum director Sam Hart, plans began taking shape for art and history inspired storytelling programs rooted in the museum’s exhibits.

2024 Summit & Festival 183 Youth Storytelling Families in 10 Years |
Over the past 10 years, Story Crossroads has celebrated 183 youth storytelling families who have helped keep the art of oral tradition alive
through the voices of the next generation. To continue nurturing these young talents, we launched a dedicated email list for youth tellers and their families—providing early access to performance opportunities, resources, and community support. As part of this ongoing effort, we shared with them a new e-workbook, How to be a Youth Teller Today & Beyond, which offers inspiration, practical tips, and real stories from and about youth storytellers—some of whom are now thriving as young
adults.
Submissions are open for Quirky Quandries until August 15,
2025. Send us your stories, articles, or artwork—theme-related or not! Have a tale about "surviving your art" through mishaps or strange encounters? Or a story tied to Quirky Quandries? We’d love to see it! Though separate from Story Crossroads, The Story Beast is a free, worldwide publication. Learn more at storybeast.org.
On July 12, Kristin Pedemonti led a virtual workshop on Narrative Therapy Practices. She offered a clear and heartfelt introduction to storytelling
as a tool for healing and reflection. We explored powerful techniques such as externalizing problems and dialoguing across generations. Attendees found renewed purpose in journaling, support for daily anxiety, and being better equipped to navigate personal challenges and strengthen connections within their families and communities. This workshop as well as other past workshops are still available to purchase at http://storycrossroads.org/AllThingsStory
As for future events, we have several coming up. Karla Huntsman is performing an in-person/streamed house concert (July 31). We have David J. Schmidt teaching a virtual
workshop (August 2). Story Camp for ages 8-17 will be guided by Cherie Davis and Ginger Parkinson (August 6-8). Story Crossroads will also have a booth at the Utah Renaissance Faire with story fortune tellings (August 22-23).
