Learning about Buses & Field Trips: Launching the "Be a Bus Benefactor" Program
Thanks to generous support from our Year-End Campaign, we launched our Bus Benefactor initiative—and two schools have already benefited in 2025! Terra Linda Elementary and Morningside Elementary will be able to bring their students to experience the magic of live storytelling at our 10th Annual Summit & Festival in May. Without this support, these schools would have had to forgo the opportunity due to limited bus budgets. But with your help, we
can expand this initiative and ensure even more students have access to the arts. Many schools run out of bus reservations by winter, leaving spring field
trips out of reach. That’s where Bus Benefactors step in. A $500 gift covers transportation and field trip costs for 100 students, connecting them with world-class storytellers and immersive learning. More schools are on our waiting list, hoping for a chance to attend. Will you help us grow this effort and bring the joy of storytelling to even more students? Death &
Defiance: Folk & Fairy Tales Unburied
Unearth the eerie and enthralling as Story Crossroads takes on the A to Z Blog Challenge starting April 1! Our 11th annual theme, Death &
Defiance: Folk & Fairy Tales Unburied, explores the shadowy depths of folklore, where death is not an end but a force to be challenged, tricked, or embraced. Through 26 alphabet-inspired posts, we’ll reveal spectral lovers, clever mortals outwitting fate, and mischievous spirits dancing on the edge of the afterlife. Whether spine-chilling or awe-inspiring, these tales promise a month of defiant storytelling—one haunting letter at a time! Do you already follow our blog at storycrossroads.org/blog? You can see an archive of past A to Z Blog Challenges HERE. |
The Growing Gab issue of the free The Story Beast e-publication is out now! Submissions are open for Sizzling Splendor until May 15, 2025. Send us your stories, articles, or artwork—theme-related or not! Have a tale about "surviving your art" through mishaps or strange
encounters? Or a story tied to Sizzling Splendor? We’d love to see it! Though separate from Story Crossroads, The Story Beast is a free,
worldwide publication. Learn more at storybeast.org.
On March 1, 2025, Kiran Singh Sirah’s virtual workshop on peace-building through storytelling was nothing short of transformational. Participants left feeling inspired, empowered, and ready to take action—whether through personal storytelling, community projects, or intergenerational connections. Many
reflected on the power of stories to foster kindness, resilience, and understanding, with some planning to record family histories, organize storytelling potlucks, or share immigrant narratives. Kiran’s insights on storytelling as a “slow art movement” and a means of working through challenges resonated deeply, sparking ideas that will ripple outward into communities. This workshop, along with past ones, is available to order at storycrossroads.org/AllThingsStory. On March 28, 2025, Elizabeth Gibson captivated us during the 90th house concert, bringing to life A Magnificent Life: The Story of Colonel Winfield Scott Gibson III. She honored his journey from a humble Mississippi
childhood—complete with surprising frog-catching adventures—to a distinguished military career marked by leadership and service. Both in-person and live-stream attendees were moved, with many admiring Elizabeth’s ability to preserve such a remarkable legacy. Inspired by Elizabeth’s storytelling, audience members left reflecting on how they, too, might share the stories of their own family members who served. We also tested a new camera to enhance the virtual experience, though nothing compares
to being in the room for such a powerful performance. You can explore past streams--like this one--as well as the upcoming house concerts at http://storycrossroads.org/HouseConcerts.
As for future events, we have at least two every month. Randel McGee performing at Hans Christian Andersen for our 91st House Concert
(April 11). We have Peter Chand teaching a virtual workshop (April 19). You can register for our hybrid Summit & Festival (May 5-8).

Enjoy this hint of what to expect with Randel McGee's performance as Hans Christian Andersen with the 91st House Concert on April 11, 2025. See more videos at our YouTube Channel.
