Youth Tellers from Everywhere
We feature at least 33 youth tellers every year. Where do these youth tellers come from? Every year we add more feed-ins. In 2023, we added the
Alpine School District who are continuing with us for 2024. This year, we are adding youth from the Deaf Schools of Utah. While the timing was perfect for Peter Cook, a world-traveling Deaf storyteller, to be featured for this year's Summit & Festival, we were hoping to have this connection ever since we started in 2016. We are about to meet with the Superintendent of the Deaf Schools of Utah so that Deaf youth tellers can join us starting in 2024 and onward. We appreciate our other feed-ins: Murray Storytelling Showcase; Artists Standing Strong Together (virtual slots); Jordan School District; Weber State University Storytelling Festival;
Summit Vista senior living; Clearfield Storytelling Festival; Story Crossroads Academy (self-led course and then people can submit to be considered). If a
feed-in is unavailable, we always accept youth and adult community tellers until April 23 as long as they spend at least six hours or more on a story (and not only relying on natural talent). In-person and virtual spots are available. Note about youth picture above: This is Aaboli Samant from the inaugural 2016 festival. She has been with us ever since!
Story Crossroads continues to benefit from the Zoo, Arts & Parks of Salt Lake County (ZAP). Besides being part of their first Impact Collaborative Program cohort, ZAP has offered workshops and networking opportunities. On March 19, 2024, ZAP had a panel on grant writing. We
were thrilled for all of the people who presented including Aimee Dunsmore, Executive Director of the Utah Arts Festival. In 2023, we worked with Aimee as well as people with the SLCC Writing Center to offer the Story Walk. For 2024, the Story Walk will even be part of the Utah Arts Festival app. We met people from different arts and cultural organizations that we will collaborate with either in 2024 or definitely by 2025.

A to Z Blog Challenge Theme Reveal
Time to beat the drums and enjoy the anticipation of a 10th Story Crossroads theme reveal as part of the A to Z Blog Challenge ( http://www.a-to-zchallenge.com) that happens throughout
the month of April. These are 26 postings for each of the letters of the alphabet (with rest on Sundays). We accept the challenge…again. Theme: Fantastic Females in Folk & Fairy Tales We are women…or at least the whole Story Crossroads Board are women at
this time. We witness many wonderful women making a difference in the world. Perhaps some were even inspired by folk and fairy tale characters. While there is the “damsel in distress” phrase out there, we want to blow that out of the waters, beyond the dragon’s mouth, and miles away from any tower. So no matter your gender, this will be a journey full of adventures. Join us starting April 1, 2024. Besides following our blog, we will update our archive (see below).

The Story Beast e-pub - Spring Issue is Out!
The Spring issue with the theme "Stepping Stones" is out, which includes two new sections on "Surviving My Art" and "That's Amazing!" Find out what these sections (and all of them) offer. Each issue of The Story Beast e-publication has a theme that people can connect
to...or not. All past issues can be found on The Story Beast website. We would love your submissions for our 2024 quarterly issues. We have upcoming themes for 2024 such as "Chaotic Creations" ( due May 15, 2024); "Flavored Fright" ( due August 15,
2024); and "Whirling Winds" ( due November 15, 2024). While this is a different entity than Story Crossroads, we are pleased to see this e-publication that is available for free for anyone and all over the world. All details can be found at storybeast.org. And...the Story Crossroads Executive Director happens to be the one that launched the idea and worked along amazing people
to have it come to pass.
On March 1, 2024, Paul Strickland returned to teach "Collage Techniques in Storytelling" though this time it was a 5-hour version rather than 1 1/2-hour version. We delved much more into performance and movement beyond the original techniques taught. People could use moments of their own stories and be
guided by Paul. So many "ah-ha" moments! You can order this workshop as well as past recordings at http://storycrossroads.org/AllThingsStory (scroll to bottom). On March 22, 2024, we had our 80th House Concert featuring Annie and Dan Eastmond (Harvest Home). They
took us on a journey throughout Ireland through their talents of three instruments each as well as vocals and stories. We boosted our streaming quality and used YouTube/OBS rather than using Zoom to YouTube. We used an XLR/USB microphone cable to get better sound. We'll continue to improve. You can view this stream on YouTube or at http://storycrossroads.org/HouseConcerts.
As for future events, we have at least two every month. We have Lyn Ford teaching a virtual workshop on high school storytelling (April 13). Nannette Watts will be performing for our
81st House Concert (April 19). And don't forget our Summit & Festival (May 13-16)!
