New Phase! Paid Executive Director
We had a plan that by the 10th year of Story Crossroads, we would have a paid Executive Director. We are on schedule! As we will celebrate our 9th Summit & Festival in May 2024, that does technically mean our 10th year. While it's a small stipend of $500/month, we are hoping
that it can increase to $750/month by July 2024 and then $1000 by 2025 and so forth as sustainability and feasibility are constantly monitored. We thank the Zoo, Arts, and Parks of Salt Lake County (ZAP) for the grant that assists in paid staffing and making this step possible. So...hurrah! Rachel Hedman will transition from 100% volunteer Executive Director to paid.
We officially launched GiveLively donations on December 12, 2023. Though, this will be our donating platform from now on. You can take part in the
End of Year donations now. We included the grants that we have for 2024 if you're curious as to why we have over $28,000 there. We plan on increasing our 2024 funds...and you can help! As a reminder, GiveLively is a free platform for nonprofits to use to manage donations of various kinds including: text-to-donate, peer campaigns, ACH transfers, monthly donations, etc. While PayPal and
others provide similar things, we love that GiveLively connects them all together and allows easy end-of-the-year tax deductible letters of what you have donated to us. Of course, you can always donate year-round. We also appreciate if you have "Story Crossroads" as a beneficiary of any pension or IRA plans. You can also have a donations come from your annuities. Check with your accountant on how it's easy and does not take away from your current
beneficiaries.

Another issue is out and has been since December 13, 2023 called "Peaceful Ponderings." Meanwhile, all past issues can be found on The Story Beast
website. We would love your submissions for our 2024 quarterly issues. We have upcoming themes for 2024 such as "Stepping Stones" (due Feb. 15, 2024); "Chaotic Creations" (due May 15, 2024); "Flavored Fright" (due August 15, 2024); and "Whirling Winds" (due November 15, 2024). While this is a different entity than Story Crossroads, we are pleased to see this e-publication that is available for free for anyone and all over the world. All details can be found at storybeast.org. And...the Story Crossroads Executive Director happens to be the one that launched the idea and worked along amazing people to have it come to pass. You can subscribe to the Beastly Blog and/or the YouTube Channel.
On November 30, 2023, Ramona Lucius with Hands-On Folktales performed for our 76th House Concert. She involved both in-person and virtual attendees with a lot of participation including lip-trumpeting and thigh-drumming. Curious now, right? You can view the stream at http://storycrossroads.org/HouseConcerts. On December 2, 2023, Alton Takiyama-Chung taught the importance of research and respect for historical tales. He gave examples of what to do (and what not to do) that was both heartwarming and funny. You can order this workshop as well as past recordings at http://storycrossroads.org/AllThingsStory (scroll to bottom).
As for future events, we have at least two every month. We have Wayne Kartchner and Karl Behling performing for our 77th House Concert (December 29) and Rachel Hedman teaching a virtual
workshop (January 6).

We are excited for our 77th House Concert that you can enjoy through our YouTube Channel or in-person featuring Wayne Kartchner and Karl Behling. Get a feel for it. See more videos at our YouTube Channel.
