Bay Area Storytelling Festival...and Us!
Yes, we made it easy. By registering for the Bay Area Storytelling Festival for April 29 (also recorded and viewing until end of July 2023), then all you have to do is register for the Story Crossroads Summit & Festival for May 8-11 (viewing until June 15, 2023). You would be entered into a drawing to earn
swag. What are you waiting for?
Murray Storytelling Showcase
You only see part of this fun group above. It's because of the Murray Storytelling Showcase that Story Crossroads was able to come into existence (although the idea was there for a while). We select youth for our Summit & Festival. We appreciate Murray School District as well as participation from the Murray
Senior Center for continuing their program. |
TAHIRA & Norm Brecke at Summit & Festival
Included in the ticket is a 5-hour hybrid workshop called "Dare to be Funny" ( watch here) taught by Norm Brecke on May 8. Later that same day, TAHIRA will be our Keynote in the evening,
ready to inspire and make you think. And this is only a hint of things. We do have 15 story artists, 3 professors/experts, and 40 community tellers. Early Bird through May 1! On the event page you will also discover...two events are completely free: "Language of Story: Tongan" as well as "Teachers! Stories Do Work." Get those details. Thanks to funding from National
Endowment for the Arts; National Endowment for the Humanities; Western States Arts Federation; Utah Division of Arts and Museums/Utah Legislature; Utah Humanities; City of Murray; Zoo, Arts & Parks (ZAP) of Salt Lake County; Salt Lake City Arts Council; Ashton Family Foundation; and people like you. |
The Story Beast e-pub...deadline May 1, 2023
"Winged Words" came out for The Story Beast e-pub. Did you already explore it? As a heads up, the next deadline is May 1, 2023 with the theme "Bright Babblings." Whether or not you submit, spread the word. Enjoy the already published issues. While this is a different entity than Story
Crossroads, we are pleased to see this e-publication that is available for free for anyone and all over the world. All details can be found at storybeast.org. And...the Story Crossroads Executive Director happens to be the one that launched the idea and worked along amazing people to have it come to pass. You can subscribe to the Beastly Blog and/or the YouTube Channel.
On April 15, 2023, Paul Strickland got people curious and excited about his unique collage technique for storytelling. How could he pack so much in 1 1/2 hours? Don't worry. Sometime in 2024 will be a 5-hour virtual version. Still, you can still order past workshops for recordings/handouts ( storycrossroads.org/AllThingsStory - scroll to bottom) And...not the past yet...we do have our 70th House Concert coming up on Friday, April 28, 2023. We will have Karla Huntsman tell in-person AND live-streamed. Go to storycrossroads.org/HouseConcerts. As for future events, we have at least two every month. Click button below for what's next from Karla Huntsman performing (April 28) and Norm Brecke teaching (5-hr hybrid workshop connected with Summit & Vista on May 8). Early Bird through May 1 for Summit & Festival (May
8-11)! |
We are thrilled for our biggest event of the year, the Summit & Festival. Get hints of what to expect (and share). Early bird through May 1. See more videos at our YouTube Channel.
If you or someone you know has a story video that you want us to see, then let us know by emailing info@storycrossroads.org.
