Working Together: Weber State University
One of the largest storytelling festivals in Utah is the Weber State University that is coming up February 27-March 1, 2023. We do an exchange already with each other on ads to each other events...but that will change. We will have four youth tellers from their event feed into our May 8-11, 2023 Summit &
Festival. With our Story Education Bites, we are looking to have at least one WSU professor each year to assist. And...more to be revealed later. Some day? We look forward to when a storytelling program will be offered to undergraduates and graduates. |
Returning to Summit Vista
We are thrilled to receive a second Creative Aging grant through the Utah Division of Arts and Museums (UDAM). This means that Laurie Allen will return as facilitator at the Summit Vista senior living in Taylorsville, Utah. A 10-week program kicks off on February 7, 2023 with some older adults selected to perform
for our May 8-11, 2023 Summit & Festival.
Creation of Alpine School District Showcase... to feed into Festival
We are excited that the Alpine School District in Utah County will join our other schools and districts in feeding into our May 8-11, 2023 Summit & Festival. They have their district-level event on March 11. |
The Story Beast e-pub deadline
Do you have a story, poem, article, or art to submit to The Story Beast e-pub? February 1, 2023 is the deadline. Whether or not you submit, spread the word. Enjoy the already published issues. While this is a different entity than Story Crossroads, we are pleased to see this
e-publication that is available for free for anyone and all over the world. All details can be found at storybeast.org. And...the Story Crossroads Executive Director happens to be the one that launched the idea and worked along amazing people to have it come to pass. You can subscribe to the Beastly Blog and/or
the YouTube Channel.
On January 7, 2023, Rachel Hedman taught how to figure out the newsworthy side of storytelling and then get press coverage. She hopes to see press releases turned in within a month or so by attendees! Picture above is one of the times Rachel was on TV to talk about Story Crossroads. You can still order past
workshops for recordings/handouts ( storycrossroads.org/AllThingsStory - scroll to bottom) As for future events, we have at least two every month. Click button below for what's next from Steffani Raff
performing (Jan. 27) or Kathleen Santopietro teaching (Feb. 4). |
We are thrilled for this virtual workshop taught by Kathleen Santopietro on Saturday, February 4, 2023 on "What's a Memory? Storytelling for Older Adults." See hints of what to expect. See more videos at our YouTube Channel.
If you or someone you know has a story video that you want us to see, then let us know by emailing info@storycrossroads.org.
