We Did It - Turned in Biggest Grant Application
We took the big step and turned in an grant application...asking for $150,000 over the course of two years with a 1:1 match. That means $300,000. We never asked more than $10,000 before. This would help us have paid staff, interns, outsource accounting, have someone over capital campaigning, and strengthen our
website while creating an app for Story Crossroads. We know that our programming has positive impact on local and global communities...and we are ready to expand. Thank you for being on this journey with us. |
Our Executive Director, Rachel Hedman, received a fun message from Mara Menzies that she was in Salt Lake City for a couple days in October due to filming/recording for The Apple Seed storytelling radio show (BYU Broadcasting). Mara had some adventures with Rachel's family with great
delight. We are pleased that Mara's first United States performances were with our Story Crossroads Festival. Since that time, she has performed for the National Storytelling Festival and many others in the States (the word spread fast as to her entrancing tellings) and will be back again for the 2023 Timpanogos Storytelling Festival. |
The Story Beast e-pub - 4th issue! free & taking submissions
Enjoy in magazine style OR download the pdf. While this is a different entity than Story Crossroads, we are pleased to see this e-publication that is available for free for anyone and all over the world. You can enjoy the articles, short
stories, poems, and art...or you can submit pieces to be considered. All details can be found at storybeast.org. And...the Story Crossroads Executive Director happens to be the one that launched the idea and worked along amazing people to have it come to pass.
On October 15, 2022, Elaine Brewster taught on how to take care of our voices. It was hands-on...or rather...voice-on. People raved about it in the feedback including their goals to better care for themselves. You can still order past workshops for recordings/handouts ( storycrossroads.org/AllThingsStory - scroll to bottom) On October 21, 2022, Bradley Mackay performed for the 64th House Concert. He told all Sci-fi/Horror original tales. We had one of our largest crowds since COVID mainly cut our audience in half. Bradley had told in October 2020 when we spaced out, had masks, and many health
measures. As for future events, we have at least two every month. Click button below for what's next from Lyn Ford teaching (Nov. 5) and Karl Behling performing (Nov. 11). |
We are thrilled for Lyn Ford to teach a virtual workshop on Saturday, November 5, 2022 on "Resilience, Growth and the Storytelling Mind Set." Hear some words from her on what to expect. See more videos at our YouTube Channel.
If you or someone you know has a story video that you want us to see, then let us know by emailing info@storycrossroads.org.
